Jose Torres Music Teacher at Torres Music Academy with students during music recital

We are in search of great music teachers!

When I started Torres Music Academy, I wanted to build the kind of studio I wish I’d had growing up.

One where students aren’t handed a rigid lesson plan and told to fall in line, but are guided toward the music they actually want to play.

As we grow, I’m looking for instructors who feel the same way. If you’re formally trained but don’t believe great teaching has to look “formal,” if you get energized watching a total beginner nail their first song, and if you want to teach in a studio that’s genuinely rooted in this community. I’d love to hear from you.

— Jose Torres, Founder & Music Director

Why Teach at Torres Music Academy

  • Teach your way. No corporate curriculum — you build lesson plans around each student’s goals.
  • Flexible scheduling. Set availability that works around your gigs, school, or other students.
  • We bring the students to you. Studio marketing, lead generation, and scheduling are handled — you focus on teaching.
  • Studio space provided. Fully equipped teaching space in Historic Downtown Plano close to the DART Line and easy commuting from HWY 75 or George Bush.
  • Bilingual? That’s a huge plus. We serve a large Spanish-speaking community and actively route Spanish-speaking families to bilingual instructors.
  • Small studio, real mentorship. Work directly with a formally trained music educator (San Diego State University, Music Education & Theory) not a franchise call center.

What We are Looking for in our Music Teachers

A genuine passion for teaching, not just performing instrument specialty in piano, guitar, voice, or aural skills/theory (see open roles below). Comfort teaching a wide range of ages from toddlers to adults and adapting for different learning styles, including students with special needs. Formal training preferred (degree or equivalent performance/teaching experience) but teaching ability matters more than the diploma.
